Intel - From Inventors of the CPU to Laughing Stock [Part 1]
Intel originated from key pioneers of Fairchild Semiconductor, including Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore, who founded the company in 1968 to advance memory chips and integrated circuits. In 1971, Intel revolutionized computing by creating the first commercial central processing unit (CPU), the Intel 4004, which condensed an entire computer processor onto a single chip. Through strategic business decisions--such as refusing to license its 386 processor architecture to competitors--and continuous performance advancements with the Pentium series, Intel established a dominant monopoly over the global PC market throughout the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
